Full-Grain Leather Glasses Case – Soft Sleeve, Jordan Brown

A soft full-grain cowhide sleeve that protects glasses in a bag or pocket without the bulk of a hard case.

A sleeve, not a shell

Hard cases protect well and then take up half a handbag. This is the other approach: a single layer of full-grain cowhide, soft enough to fold around the frame and firm enough that a set of keys pressing against it in a bag does not reach the lens.

Full-grain, and what that actually means

Full-grain is the outermost layer of the hide, kept intact rather than sanded down to hide blemishes. It is the densest part, which is why it resists tearing, and it is the reason this case will look better in three years than it does today. The surface takes on a sheen where your hand grips it most.

Jordan Brown

A mid-brown with a warm undertone rather than a red one. It darkens slowly and unevenly — the mouth of the sleeve, where fingers pull the frames out, goes first. Some people find that the point of leather; if you want a case that stays uniform, this is not it.

Sized for real frames

Cut to take standard optical and most sunglass frames, including wider aviators. The opening is left unstiffened so the leather gives as the frame goes in, then closes back around it.
